Training Activities and Club Sailing Boats
IMPORTANT Club boats are not for general use and should not be taken out without permission
In general terms, they are for use for participants in the following groups, under the direct supervision and allocation by club instructors for
- Junior Training
- Pico Club
- Skillbuild
- SeaBray
- Lakers
They are not available for club racing, or other sailing activities, unless explicit permission has been issued by the Training Group. In addition they should never be taken out, when there is no safety cover in the vicinity.
If you are not a direct participant of one of the above groups, you will need to be apply to the Club Boat Group for permission (training@braysailingclub.ie) and if approved, this will include a 50 refundable deposit and an undertaking to cover any repairs/losses immediately.
Additionally, the club seeks to ensure that the cost in both time and money terms to the club and to volunteers in keeping these boats on the water, is kept to a minimum.
Failure to repair/replace boat parts will leave training activities short of boats and could result in people being unable to sail/take part in training activities.
In addition anyone who is responsible for a club boat being unable to sail through carelessness, will not be allowed to make use of a club boat until such time as the damaged boat is back in action.
It must be re-iterated, boats should never be taken out when there is no safety cover in the vicinity.
There are a number of reasons for these restrictions, a major one being, in case of an accident, the club need to be able to show, that permission was given to the member to use the boat and that the club was satisfied that they had the skills to sail the boat in the conditions present at the time.
Additionally, the club seeks to ensure that the cost in both time and money terms to the club and to volunteers in keeping these boats on the water, is kept to a minimum.
