Powerboat Courses
Powerboat courses are not only for high speed craft, they provide also provide a useful reference for controlling a sailing yacht under power as well as being a first step in obtaining the ICC licence; a pre-requisite for boat hire in most European countries.

National Powerboat Certificate | Beginners Level 2 | To develop the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively skipper an open powerboat by day on inland and coastal waters with which the student is familiar. Safety Boat Certificate | Intermediate Level | The aim of this course is to introduce participants to the techniques and skills used in powerboats which are: · Escorting racing fleets of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes · Providing safety and rescue for training fleets · Assisting in race management duties. | Participants must hold Irish Sailing's National Powerboat Certificate or equivalent. It is strongly recommended that at least one member of a safety crew should hold a first aid certificate and the Short Range (SRC) VHF Radio Operators Certificate | |
Advanced Powerboat Certificate | Advanced Level | This course will develop boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation skills up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and night in all coastal waters with which the participant is familiar.Typically there is an instructor to trainee ratio of six on this course. | Participants must hold the ISA National Powerboat Certificate or equivalent.It is strongly recommended that at least one member of a safety crew should hold a first aid certificate and the Short Range (SRC) VHF Radio Operators Certificate | 250 (non members) 200 (members) |
