Cruiser Lift In marks the start of 2025 season

Published 19:04 on 1 May 2025

Bray Sailing Club's cruiser fleet held their annual start of season lift in on Saturday 25 th April, with twenty five cruisers launched in just under four hours from two locations in the harbour. Conditions were ideal for the event, with light winds, flat water, and almost no rain.

Speaking after the conclusion of the lift in, Bray SC Cruiser Class Captain Harry Esmonde said "Today's lift in was a good example of how an experienced team working together can get through a difficult job very quickly. Being based in a tidal harbour means that we are always under pressure to complete the lifting before we run out of water, but a keen focus on safety ensures that we don't take any risks. I'd like to thank all the boat owners and crew, safety boat drivers, crane and tractor operators, and other club members who volunteered for a 6am start to make sure that we had a successful lift."

There has been growing interest in sailing in Bray in recent years and Bray Sailing Club looks forward to welcoming more new members this season. The Club's cruiser racing programme begins next weekend and will continue until the end of September.
